🎫 Join Dr. Jochen Papenbrock of NVIDIA for Building and Running a Scaling, Enterprise FinLLM Using OSS and Accelerated Computing at our Open Source in Finance Forum on 26th June in #London 🔗 https://bit.ly/3wlV2a1 Talk Abstract In this talk, Jochen presents various OSS tools from NeMo LLM Framework that can be leveraged on an accelerated computing platform for building scaling, enterprise-ready (Financial) LLMs with outstanding performance, accuracy, stability and guardrailed trustworthiness. Initial step is to select one of the best community-build LLMs like Llama, Falcon, Mixtral or Nemotron. Next steps is to use tools for model customization, retrieval augmented generation, and guardrailing. Then, the model will be deployed with an inference platform that is optimized for throughput and scale. Input data can be tokenized, curated, and deduplicated at scale. 📆 OSFF Schedule: https://bit.ly/3QvvEp4 Event presented by FINOS & The Linux Foundation #OSFF2024 #OSinFinance #opensource #fintech #financialservices #techevent #conference #opensourcecommunity

🎫 Join Paula Paul of Greyshore for A Silver Bullet for Software Engineering at our Open Source in Finance Forum on 26th June in #London 🔗 https://bit.ly/3y3jMnY Talk Abstract The essay "No Silver Bullet" was first published by Dr. Fredrick Brooks in 1986, and republished in the 25th anniversary edition of his seminal collection 'The Mythical Man Month'. The essay questioned whether it was possible to achieve tenfold improvement in software engineering productivity within ten years. This session offers insights on software engineering productivity from my own journey in computer programming, which began in 1976, leading to mainframe product development at IBM. During the years Dr. Brooks first published his essay, then product engineering in ‘shrink wrap’ software and cloud native products, to current adventures in software engineering with Google’s Duet AI. As a mainframe programmer I spent my time very differently than I do today. Software estimation and productivity metrics have evolved, but are elusive and even controversial. We've come from a mythical man month to mythical '10x programmers'. Will AI bring us 10x improvement? With the help of Google's Duet AI, we will explore whether we’ve finally found the silver bullet. 📆 OSFF Schedule: https://bit.ly/3JLbzrd Event presented by FINOS & The Linux Foundation #OSFF2024 #OSinFinance #opensource #fintech #financialservices #techevent #conference #opensourcecommunity

🎫 Join Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical for Everything LTS: A New Approach to Open Source Security and Compliance at our Open Source in Finance Forum on 26th June in #London 🔗 https://bit.ly/3QrnJtb Talk Abstract How can a company enable its developers to use any upstream open source, and remain confident it can close all the CVEs in that stack? Mark will present a new approach to open source maintenance and the open source supply chain, developed in partnership with major clouds and silicon providers to underpin their fast-moving enterprise AI offerings. The extraordinary breadth of innovation available as open source comes with the risk of unmaintained and unauditable systems. Our approach aims to give the widest freedom to institutional developers, while supporting the CISO in their mission to ensure security of the estate. Building on the latest ideas in distroless containers, the result is a significant leap forward for those who need the latest open source with long term maintenance and compliance commitments. 📆 OSFF Schedule: https://bit.ly/3Uktdqx Event presented by FINOS & The Linux Foundation #OSFF2024 #OSinFinance #opensource #fintech #financialservices #techevent #conference #opensourcecommunity

🎟️ Join Ciara Carey of Cloudsmith for EU's Cyber Resilience Act Repercussions in Open Source at our Open Source in Finance Forum on 26th June in #London 🔗 https://bit.ly/3xUEt5v Talk Abstract The EU's Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) proposes stringent cybersecurity requirements for digital products, aiming to bolster security against cyberattacks. While it promises safer hardware and software, it also raises questions for Open Source contributors and organizations. Will they be liable for vulnerabilities in their code? Could this legislation stifle innovation or foster it? The final draft of the CRA removed the burdensome requirements on OSS contributors- a very near land mine for the OSS community. Join me in exploring these questions to understand how the CRA underscores the imperative for open source organizations to advocate for their interests in policymaking. 📆 OSFF Schedule: https://bit.ly/3xQeBHR Event presented by FINOS & The Linux Foundation #OSFF2024 #OSinFinance #opensource #fintech #financialservices #techevent #conference #opensourcecommunity
