The Great Hall

A traditional setting for formal dinners and flexible space for corporate events.

Anyone seeking a grand entrance by a sweeping staircase, and a traditional setting should make sure they consider the University’s Great Hall. The Hall, based within the Sutherland Building, has been refurbished to reveal original panelling and decorative features.

The Great Hall has hosted numerous formal dinners, as well as corporate training sessions and it can seat up to 120 people for a sit down meal and 150 people theatre style.

Our catering team can offer three-course fine dining for a formal evening meal, celebration or awards ceremony or support any conference, meeting or corporate away-day with lunch packages and hospitality.

The Great Hall regularly hosts formal University occasions such as The Rutherford Dinner, Congregation Dinners and Vice-Chancellor External Speaker programmes.

It has played host to events such as the New Writing North Awards Dinner, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) reception event, Fine Art Auctions, NHS and RSA Conferences as well as the Northern Counties Club Annual Dinner.
